Emergency Response Team (ERT)

LMU’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) serves a critical function in the university’s overall preparedness for large-scale emergencies and disasters. Since 2011, ERT members have served the university by strengthening preparedness efforts across campus and helping shape a more resilient LMU community. Each member is empowered with foundational knowledge and skills to help support life-saving response efforts, should the need arise.

Through hands-on trainings, exercises, drills and more, ERT members are equipped to support response efforts to hazards that LMU may face, including earthquakes, power outages, active threat incidents, fires, and more. After receiving training, ERT members help provide safety and preparedness info to their team, department, building, or group. Members are also given the opportunity to hear from guest speakers with emergency response field experience. These year-round engagement opportunities and meetings help ERT members refresh and enhance their disaster-support competencies.

Traditionally, the ERT program has consisted of LMU faculty and staff members. As of 2022, the ERT program is also open to students.
