The Emergency Management Unit provides instructor-led trainings on a variety of preparedness topics and hazards. These trainings have been carefully developed to aid the LMU community in preparing for emergencies given their specific role on campus.
Emergency Preparedness 101
The Emergency Preparedness 101 course is open to everyone in the LMU community. It will equip participants with tools they need to prepare for and respond to an emergency. This course can be tailored to a specific campus group where the topics covered and duration are customized. Register now.
Building Captain & Emergency Response Team Program Orientation
This classroom-based, instructor-led course is highly recommended for all Building Captains and Emergency Response Team members. It teaches roles and responsibilities as captains and team members, as well as provides personal emergency preparedness tips that you can use on campus and at home. The course also reviews the contents of the red emergency backpack. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and an LMU Emergency Tips Book. Register now.
The First Aid/CPR/AED teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Participants learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. Upon completion of this course, participants receive a First Aid/CPR/AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years. Register now.
Psychological First Aid
Offered in partnership with Student Psychological Services, this course provides a basic overview of psychological first aid, including things to look for, questions to ask and referring resources. Register now.
Offered in partnership with the Los Angeles Fire Department, this course teaches how to use of a portable fire extinguisher. Other topics covered include common types of fires and the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep) technique. Register now.
